since september i have been deeply immersed in the reading and writing workshop at my school.  Thanks to hurricane sandy, I'm stuck at home but I haven't stopped working.  I found this great teacher blog from staff developers at The Reading and Writing Workshop at Teachers college.  Great explicit lessons to get our students to stretch their writing:
